This book cover's art was created by hand with chalk and after being photographed it was edited in Illustrator to add the final specifications.
The main objective with this design is to attract new and young readers to the world of Hopscotch. Introducing this Latin-American novel to the current Canadian market, so we can rescue this classic from being forgotten.
Why this cover takes the attention of younger readers?
Colors: The all-time colors present in chalk since we were kids, brings to the design memories of our childhood: giving the book a sense of easiness and approachability.
Shape: The shapes that conform to the typeface, and its distribution, remind us of the game without being too obvious about its basic, classical shape.
Texture: The presence of chalk texture brings playfulness to the design, making it look less serious, and less intimidating.
